Hospitality Sector Switches on to Outdoor Heating to boost Trade Post-Lockdown

People sat at tables outside pub in city centre setting

The re-opening of the hospitality sector in July is likely to start with outdoor areas' - that’s the message being given to the UK’s pubs, restaurants and cafes by the Government as it starts to coax the economy back into life following the Coronavirus lockdown.

This news, driven as it is by evidence that outdoor spaces are less problematic for virus spreading, has led many in the sector to prioritise their outdoor areas. And we here at Tansun are experiencing first-hand signs of this increased interest in outdoor spaces.

Over the last few weeks, we have been receiving a growing number of enquiries from bar & restaurant fit-out installation companies. They are being asked to optimise their clients’ outdoor areas and effective heating schemes are seen as part of this.

They and their clients know that the correct heating will mean that people will be happy to stay outdoors for longer periods and into the evenings as a drop in temperature won’t be an issue.

Fit-out installers are coming to us for our wide range of commercial-grade  infrared heaters. Our infrared heaters are developed to completely heat an outdoor area and encourage diners to eat outside whatever the weather, and with visitor numbers likely to soar as lockdown restrictions ease, venues need to ensure they are ready and compliant for the months of trade ahead.

1925-bar_and_restaurant_outdoor_heaters.jpgSmaller heaters, although powerful, are not able to produce enough heat to warm a large outdoor seating area, and with social distancing now a priority, they will not be able to provide a professional and effective heating solution.

Outdoor spaces will remain crucial even as the lockdown eases

As and when lockdown measures allow the opening of interior spaces in bars and restaurants, outdoor spaces will still play crucial role. This is because re-opening will be conditional on onerous social-distancing rules and strict limits on the number of customers and tables.

The extra capacity that beer gardens and outdoor eating areas provide could make the difference between being able to operate profitably, and not.

Controllability is a key consideration

With the massive pressures that there will be on keeping running costs to a minimum, we have also been getting a lot of questions about the controllability of our heating solutions.

We offer a  selection of energy-saving switches and heater controls designed to suit almost any situation or need. Our infrared heaters can easily be adjusted in heat output and energy consumption, maximising user comfort and energy savings.

1923-tansun_heating_controllers_cropped.jpgFor instance, our six-channel remote allows six individual heaters/zones to be variably controlled. The remote can be configured to the receivers at the touch of a button, making it the most user-friendly controlled and efficient heating system on the market.

All of Tansun’s products are made in the UK and are designed using premium components. We have been trading for 35 years and pioneered the concept of infrared electric heaters alongside Philips technology. Tansun has the largest range of commercial, domestic and industrial infrared heaters in the world, providing maintenance-free, safe and healthy shortwave heaters for many different types of heating applications.
